If we constantly allow ourselves to be open to external inputs, we will never be present enough to achieve that which is already on our plate.
Having all of these tasks undone will produce stress. The only way to quiet the mind is to avoid this external stimulation for as long as possible.
The problem is that addiction does exist. The mind does seek that burst of dopamine. Journaling can help control that. To use a Buddhist term, the monkey mind is fed by the Internet.
How can we center ourselves against such ever-present distraction? Meditation is a popular option, but not everyone likes meditating. We have to find our own method.
