And then it all makes sense.

In one moment the truth of the writing life opens up and the clock disappears. The race is over. In fact, there never was a race.

Art develops as experience does: in its own time. To rush it would be to do it a disservice.

If you can’t live without writing you never have to. The act cannot be taken away.

What a comforting realization that is.
