And Then It’s There

An end to the draft approaches without warning. The pages accumulate and the stress increases when suddenly there it is: the horizon.

The horizon may not be the end of the project. Maybe its just the end of the draft. But it is enough to warrant some relief. This is one step closer. The path is clearer than it has been in some time.

Once the draft is done, it is time to look back and answer the questions that arose during the process. Keeping a list of them is a good idea. In between this draft and the next, answer them. Sometimes you get lucky and all that is required is another sentence or image.

These are the days when the process is worth it. These are the days when the writing isn’t killing you. We have to enjoy them because they are short lived.

Bask in it just a little; this won’t last.
