Those initial phases of a project are the most exciting times. Well, no, the successful culmination of the project is the best — but the initial phases are a close second.
It is impossible to hold on to that motivation and enthusiasm when you are deep in the project. The sheen of possibility has worn off, leaving only the rough interior ready for you to mold.
The artist’s responsibility is to bring the sheen that only we could see in the beginning to the audience. That is the gift of art: helping others see with your eyes.
