Focusing on external signs of success can cloud the value of daily dedication. That is completely understandable. More so if one is looking to make a living off of their art.
Sometimes — most of the time — the process is not fulfilling. But that doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t be the focus.
If we live for the process, savoring every advance and failure, we are already living the life that we want to lead.
Whether we make a living with our writing or not, we are writing. That’s it. What else do you want?
Such clarity of purpose in this life is a blessing.
