First things first, always.
Priorities are our guides. They have to be. Otherwise, the days get away from us.
Our professions act as a priority. our work days fill with responsibilities that demand time and attention. We do n’t think about what needs to be done — we know; we have to. That’s why we are paid.
But our own pursuits require the same attention without the financial incentive. Treated as such, and with time, our art may provide that incentive.
That’s the rub.
Art is not a 9 to 5. Especially if we already have a 9 to 5.
So we have to find the moments when we can. It’s our only chance.
