While the process is important, processing has its place. The significance events in our lives impact us in ways that we may be able to understand rationally but the experience is another matter. These are the times where we remember we are alive. These are the times where humility is taught. Our perspective of the past, present and future is not — and can never be — accurate. Striving to face such devastating uncertainty is not for the weak willed; not all who do will make it. The fall is real.

But the only way to save ourselves is to move, to experience, to risk and love and lose. Processing helps make sense of these experiences, even if inaccurate; they need not be. Processing is how we make our stories. It is only through processing that we have stories to tell.
